STEP 1:
Have a clean work space.

Make sure it is big enough to have all your materials on.
Resin is EXTREMELY messy, and it will get on all the things you love. INCLUDING HAIR, SO IT IS BEST TO TIE YOUR HAIR UP!!
STEP 2:
Gather your materials.
You will need:
- Resin. I use EasyCast 1:1 ratio which can be found at nearly all craft stores. There are different versions of it, and there are also brands that already have the 1:1 ratio mixed together for easy use.
- Measuring utensils. I bought the black ones (in the picture below) for $ .98 at my local Walmart, and they are very easy to wipe off between resin uses. EasyCast(?) also has reusable plastic cups with measuring lines on the side, but I prefer the Walmart measuring tools (found in baking section!)
- Disposable cups/dixie cups/EasyCast cups. You will need something to mix and store your resin in. Make sure it is disposable, because once you mix with it, it MUST be thrown away.
- Craft sticks/any kind of mixing device (disposable or not). You will need to mix the resin to bond the two liquids together. I found my craft sticks also at Walmart 1,000 sticks for four bucks!!
- One of the most important things for resin charm making- MOLDS. You can find molds (like shown below) at most craft stores by the resin/soap making section. The large heart molds I have are actually soap molds, and they are not meant for more than 2 or 3 uses. The other molds, however, are specifically for resin, and all of these are between $2-$4. Very good investment!

Optional, but very very helpful needs:
- Nail filer. I use a nail filer to shave down uneven/unwanted/sloppy edges on my charms, because, let’s face it, not everything comes out perfectly. I got my weird Christmas one from Kroger for $. 50.
- Sculpey III glaze OR modge podge(may not be the best). This is completely optional, and you can use it to give your charms some extra shine, or to coat the back to glitter or color won’t come off.
- Paintbrushes for the glaze, or other things.

Now for the fun stuff! You will also need:
- Stickers or cabochons (clay things or little decoden things) OR just whatever you want to put in the resin :)
- Glitter, seed beads, cake sprinkles, paint, or something of your choice to use as a background or to use for effect in your charm.
- Basically anything you want to put in your resin you can use! (so if you want to make a resin charm with Fruit Loops in it, go ahead! :D )
